Many of the bridges are lift bridges. A radio call and toots on the whistle gets them to open it, although sometimes you wonder if it will open in time. Sometimes they are lowering the bridge as you are going by underneath. Traffic gets tied up as ships go by.Courtesy of Tom Kearsey
