I was held (partly) responsible for the sign as in part it read “sails in exelent (sic) condition,’ the spelling mistake was accredited to me. On arrival in the UK soon after the possibility of any sale was still denied even though the sale of both the MARGARET and the SARAH had been announced in Lloyd’s list. It was amazing how the galley radio could pick up the signals long before any official word came down. The figure passing the sign is the chief officer Louis Bartrip.
